We’ve hired legions of employees to make Rock in Rio happen—from construction to technician to organization and planning, we’re determined to keep the music coming nonstop. In total, the 14 festival editions generated nearly 150,000 jobs. In our Lisbon debut alone in 2004, 9,000 people were hands-on, ensuring the absolute best for the festival.

We were born BIG. The first Rock in Rio in 1985 attracted nearly 1.4 million people. We’re going to make an educated guess that those 10 amazing days have stayed with all of these fans up until this very moment.

Imagine the biggest soccer stadium in the world. Now imagine the most people gathered for a single event. This was A-ha’s turnout in 1991, with nearly 200,000 people flooding the Maracanã. There was so much love for music that it made the Guiness Book of World Records!

FOR A BETTER WORLD

In 2001 the festival kicked off "For a Better World," an awareness and social action initiative that Rock in Rio conceived to address important issues along with music. It started on the right foot, hushing 3,500 radio and TV broadcasting stations throughout Brazil for a whole three minutes, and investing $1,950,000 in social projects.

GIVING IS ROCK AND ROLL

In 2001 Rock in Rio expanded the vision to include social and environmental causes under the umbrella “For a Better World.” Here, we invested in our planet’s transformation, donating a portion of the festival’s income to schools, NGOs, environmental and educational charities, health centers, music programs, and more. The more we partied, the more it grew. In 2013, the project reached in the mark of 23 million dollars. And we won’t stop here!
