Check who’s playing some real Rock and Roll at the festival: Rise Against – World Stage On May 9, Rise Against is taking the World Stage by storm. With more than 15 years and 7 albums under their belts, this energetic Chicago punk band has made a name for themselves with fast, melodic rock music that isn’t afraid to talk about important things. They definitely belong at Rock in Rio USA, having sold millions of albums to take them to the top of the charts in countries around the world. The punk quartet has a strong sense of social responsibility, engaging in humanitarian campaigns and using the power of their sound to affect change in the world. Recently they appeared alongside superstars like Adele and Patti Smith on the 2012 Amnesty International compilation “Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan”. They’ve toured with Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, campaigned against gun violence with the Demand A Plan organization, and raised awareness of LBGT teen suicide and bullying by advocating for the It Gets Better Project. Rise Against is the latest addition to an already stellar Main Stage lineup including Bruno Mars, No Doubt, Metallica, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and many others to come.
